VIDEO: Civilian Driver Pursues Hit-and-Run Suspect Who Killed Cyclist

A video posted to shows the first-person perspective of a civilian driver who witnessed the hit-and-run death of a female cyclist near the University of Indianapolis. That bystander subsequently got into a hair-raising pursuit of the suspected assailant, and he kept his cell phone video camera rolling throughout the event.

According to a report by Fox59-TV, the suspect is 20-year-old Omar Lopez, who eventually escaped the pursuing Good Samaritan by scaling a fence topped with barbed wire after he stopped and abandoned his vehicle.

A warrant has been issued for Lopez’s arrest.

While I understand the Good Citizen's desire to help and appreciate it, this could have went bad several ways. The suspect could have shot the samaritan who took a lot of chances with traffic or caused an accident in which he would have been no doubt sued for all he was worth in endangering the public. Its it extremely difficult for an officer with a marked car, lights and siren to pursue these morons let alone a regular vehicle with none of those emergency lights.
