Video Disputes Woman's Claim That She was Sexually Assaulted by Texas Trooper

An allegation that a Texas trooper sexually assaulted a woman last weekend in Waxahachie went viral on social media.

But after the Department of Public Safety published the full nearly 2-hour body-cam video of the incident, Sherita Dixon-Cole's attorney, Lee Merritt, apologized online and said that the trooper in question had been "falsely accused," the Star-Telegram reports.

Cole, 37, of Grapevine, was pulled over at about 1:30 a.m. Sunday for a traffic violation and arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated. She was transported to the Ellis County Jail and charged, according to the DPS.

During the stop, Cole alleged, Officer Daniel Hubbard offered her special treatment for sex, then sexually assaulted her, according to a news release tweeted Monday by Merritt.

The allegations, which the DPS denied Sunday evening, were amplified on social media by Merritt and social activist and journalist Shaun King, who wrote that Cole had been "kidnapped and raped" in posts that were widely shared and re-tweeted from his Facebook and Twitter accounts. He also alleged in an article he wrote for BlackAmericaWeb.com that Hubbard threatened to kill her fiancé if she said anything.

King has since deleted his social media posts about the incident. He did not immediately respond to email and text requests for comment.

Lying racist POS.

John @ 5/23/2018 6:50 PM

The claims by this woman, amplified by idiot ravings of Shaun King, have resulted in over four thousand phone calls to Ellis County demanding her immediate release, but worse they have caused hundreds of death threats against not one but two DPS Troopers who happen to have the same name. I hope not only Dixon-Cole but King get prosecuted to the fullest extent for their lies

It's amazing how everybody jumps on the band wagon and makes false accusations even when they only receive part of any video involving Police officers. Social media and the news all want to crucify officers but when the truth co.es out all yoh hear are crickets chirping. Anyone who publicly make comments and the news media who usually k or the truth but still make things loom bad by only posting something that looks bad with only part of a story should all be charged and made to pay restitution to the officers and their families for defecation of character when the truth is revealed. I'm tired of the B.S. that is allowed to go on day in and day out trying to make cops out to be the bad guys all the time even when they do their jobs in a professional manner and do nothing wrong. Good job Texas Troopers I support you all.

It is too easy to yell sexual assault and have people forget"innocent til proven guilty".

I really hope the liars end up in court and not receive a slap on the wrist.

Troopers affected should sue the pants off this lady and anyone who put this out as fact. Woman should be charged as well.

Grey Bear @ 5/24/2018 9:19 AM

"King...did not immediately respond to email and text requests for comment." Well, as Gomer Pyle used to say "SURPRISE, SURPRISE, SURPRISE!!" That's because he's a coward who just got caught with his hand in the cookie jar I suspect...

Man, when the attorney of the "victim"/slanderer does an immediate about face like that, you know there is absolutely no evidence to back up her claim. This was not a case of he was searching her incident to arrest and she thought he got a little handsy or he made some comment that was questionable. This was an out and out lie from start to finish on her part. Good for the lawyer for quickly issuing the apology but I hope the woman, the attorney and King are all sued for slander and defamation of character and I hope the woman is criminally charged. I don't know if King and the attorney can be charged as well but if so, I hope they are too. These false accusers and those who jump in with them without having ANY facts, let alone all the facts, to back them up need to learn there are legal consequences.

LEOs need to start filing lawsuits when they are falsely accused

Joe @ 5/25/2018 6:00 PM

Typical liar that makes things bad for real victims and the officer and his family. Now they should sue her, the attorney along with these cry wolf as loud as you can activist. I see these idiots still are hiding behind the first amendment to spew BS and lies then say Oppps once the damage is already done. But these will be the first idiots to want to take away the second amendment rights of people that don't make false accusations about the police.

Robert W @ 5/26/2018 9:00 AM

These two can now serve as a good example of deplorable behavior. “ Remember Sherita Dixon-Cole and Shaun King?” The internet never forgets.

Trigger @ 5/26/2018 10:08 AM

I figure at least three lawsuits could be filed against these idiots. Time to stop playing nice and for agencies to support their victim LEO’s on counter charges and lawsuits.

tedb @ 5/29/2018 3:36 PM

UUhhhh...Tim..."defecation of character ???" I think you mean "Defamation", or at least I hope you do. But thanks for the laugh anyway.
