VIDEO: Dashcam Footage Shows Arkansas Teen Fired on Police Before Fatal OIS

An Arkansas 17-year-old who was a passenger in a car stopped for speeding early Sunday is seen pulling a gun and firing at officers before he was killed by police, a newly released dashcam video shows.

North Little Rock police released a 5-minute video of the incident Wednesday.

Police Chief Mike Davis said the video was released to dispel “misinformation” that Smith was unarmed during the confrontation, Fox News reports.

“Since the incident, a great deal of erroneous information has appeared on social media outlets. … I want to make sure we clear that up today,” he told reporters.

"Misinformation gets out that says ... the subject wasn't armed, the subject didn't shoot," Davis said. "He was armed and we, in fact, had to take action because of that. I want people to see what happened."

A lawyer for Smith's family, Willard Proctor Jr., said police showed the video to the teenager's relatives earlier Wednesday.

Videos like this should be required viewing for high schools as it gives the officers and opportunity to show that often the perps and witnesses lie, and second that shooting at police is like committing suicide by cop.

First, people wanted BODY CAMERAS and DASH CAMS so the public could "know the truth." Now with these devices and the truth in plain sight of what happened, people still are incredulous. The police did nothing wrong here.

All of the liberal media want the truth to be what they say it is no matter what cameras show. Reporters eager to get the story first most generally put out the information that the perps were not armed so as to get an outcry started that will add to their agenda. When the real truth does finally come out they generally have some excuse cooked up as to why it wasn't reported correctly.
