VIDEO: Woman Runs Over FL Officer Before Being Fatally Shot

Authorities in Florida said a 22-year-old Temple University student struck several vehicles and ran over a Miami Beach police officer before being fatally shot by police, reports WPVI.

An outside agency is investigating whether the shooting was in line with department policy.

Witnesses captured the chaos on their cellphones Sunday evening in Miami Beach right after authorities said Cariann Hithon ran over a police officer.

The transfer student from Maryland had been in Florida celebrating her 22nd birthday. Witnesses said she appeared intoxicated.

Police initially responded to a report of several car accidents.

Police said witnesses and officers began to gather to help the victims, and that's when Hithon drove into a crowd, hitting an officer with her car.

Another officer then fired at Hithon. Hithon crashed into an SUV.

The injured officer was taken to a nearby hospital after losing consciousness at the scene for a period of time. He was listed in stable condition.

"Outside Agency investigating whether is Dept Policy" No investigation needed here! Common sense dictates Survival and the Bit*h needed to be PutDown. End of story.

Damn how many people does she have to run over before you stop her. She is using deadly force weapon vehicle. She was stopped with deadly force as she was using deadly force. Common sense should rule here. I wonder if BLM will go to see the officer as it was a black lady that committed this felony.

Stupid outside agency would not be investigating policy matters. That is an internal investigation. An outside agency (FDLE) would investigate and forward findings to the prosecutor's office to determine if it is a justifiable homicide.
