Part-Time NY Police Station Targeted by Gunfire

A part-time police station in Syracuse, NY, has become a target for gunfire again.

The shatterproof windows of the new Syracuse police substation at Skiddy Park are covered with dents and cracks from gunshots. The number of bullet marks has multiplied to more than three dozen since the station opened in June, indicating repeated shootings, Syracuse.com reports.

Sgt. Richard Helterline, a police spokesman, did not know when the station was fired upon, or how many separate incidents there have been.

"It's hard to say how many times it happened, as there was nobody inside when it happened," he said. "Some shots fired calls are not reported to 911, so we don't know about them when they happen, and damage may only be noticed later."
