Oklahoma Trooper Struck by Pursued Car, Critically Injured

Friday night, an Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper, who was assisting in a pursuit on I-35, was struck by the pursued vehicle as he was putting out stop sticks. The trooper, Lt. Heath Meyer, is currently in critical condition.

Friday night, an Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper, who was assisting in a pursuit on I-35, was struck by the pursued vehicle as he was putting out stop sticks. The trooper, Lt. Heath Meyer, is currently in critical condition.

Police say the driver of the pursued car, 28-year-old Dangelo Ladon Burgess, was arrested and faces several felony charges, including eluding an officer and causing great bodily injury while unlicensed.

OHP said another crash occurred in northwest Oklahoma City when a trooper and another driver collided at Memorial and Rockwell. That trooper was on his way to the scene in south Oklahoma City.

Meanwhile, Oklahoma City police said a crash occurred at S.W. 59th and Santa Fe. Police said an officer and another driver collided at that intersection. That officer was also on his way to the scene in south Oklahoma City, KFOR TV reports.
