The entire Fort Lauderdale (FL) Police Department should undergo extra training on how to properly treat transgender people, a city panel has decided.

The suggestion came Monday during a Citizens Police Review Board hearing for a police officer who categorized a transgender woman as male on a citation.

The board, which serves as a watchdog group over police, also decided the officer should receive a written reprimand for the incident.

Officer James Brinton faced a complaint from Shelby Kendall after he pulled her over in January for reckless driving in a Camaro. Despite Kendall’s driver’s license saying she is female, Brinton changed the traffic citation to list her as male.

Brinton said he thought the information on the driver’s license was a mistake, the Sun-Sentinel reports.

Seriously is that all the citizen review board has to worry about. Now the whinny bitch will probably sue for emotional duress!

Where the Hell is this, California? Oh wait. It's Florida. Must be near Disney. You know, Fantasy Land.

This is freaking stupid! Again, agencies are NOT willing to back officers up! NO agency should be trusted 100%.....

I am confused. NO NOT that way. If a transgender person says that they are a female but have male on their DL, what does the officer record on any of his reports? I recently read an article that the military is advising the women who are serving to get ready to shower with men. Because men who call themselves transgender females, do not have to get a sex change operation to call themselves female. Don't know if this is true or not. Can anyone shed any light on this crazy subject?

Really !!!!!!!!!!! Ask those morons on the citizen board to look at the picture, at least the one provided here, and advise if that is a male or female. If this person walked into a women's bathroom in my jurisdiction, we will probably be discussing that choice. Whatever happened to common sense. If you are a person who can stand and or walk, and you have to be seated during the restroom performance, than I will probably call you a woman. It you can stand for the performance, rather you choose to or not, that I will probably call you a man. Send political correctness down the road and bring back some good old fashioned common sense.

OK, I'm as confused as John retired IAPD! If s/he says Female on license, but CLEARLY LOOKS LIKE A MAN (which the pix does!), I would also think maybe it was a TYPO on the license (you know how they say gov. employees screw up!). If you asked s/he then you'd have another complaint. If the PIX ABOVE is on her license, I can see whey the officer made a mistake. SOLUTION: If you are a FEMALE please try to look like one; If you are a MALE please try to look like one; that might stop some of the confusion! (At least till you have the "sex change")

Army @ 7/14/2017 6:16 AM

I'm army and I never heard about women having to shower with men. Anyway, nowdays even in basic, they have individual showers. Officer Brinton doesn't deserve a reprimand. I'd fight that as much as I could, sue them if I could too.

Rick @ 7/14/2017 8:13 AM

We should do away with the terms "male" and "female", we should only use "Y" chromosome or non "Y" chromosome. Let's see them try and distort that.
