President Donald Trump has demanded that Cuba return a woman convicted in the murder of a New Jersey state trooper.

Trump made the demand for the return of Joanne Chesimard while announcing changes to Obama-era Cuba policy in Miami Friday, reports.

Chesimard was convicted in 1977 in the death of Trooper Werner Foerster. He was killed during a gunfight after a traffic stop on the New Jersey Turnpike in 1973.

Chesimard was sentenced to life in prison but escaped in November 1979 and eventually traveled to Cuba. Fidel Castro granted her asylum and she has been living under the name Assata Shakur.

Sure is a breath of fresh air to have President that supports LEOs and has a "pair". Thanks !

Gee, I wonder why we didn't see anything about this on the main stream media outlets? All we heard was how bad Trump was treating Cuba.

BT @ 6/17/2017 4:58 AM

You got that right kevcopaz. Obama would have said something like "we respect the right of Cuba to deny extradition. That's their policy and we respect that". B.S. We don't respect that! We want her back here and put in prison for life, or maybe even get the needle! Make her last breath of life on American soil. Just as she did with Trooper Foerster.

A cast iron pair. There's no time limit on justice.

redrider4 @ 6/17/2017 7:56 AM

They've been trying to get her back for decades, sure hope PRESIDENT Trump can get the job done. .He's THE MAN!

Why in the world would Obama not have made her surrender mandatory before normalizing relations? And w/ our people held in Iran? And the Marine that was in Mexico? North Korea? Mind blowing.

She is connected to a radical black females underground racist movement. And once Trump get her back, he will see how evil some black females are and can't be trusted. This will cause civil war which is a good thing. Most women in government have infiltrated it

Come on back and face your fate Ms Shakur. I think the death penalty would be in order now. Thank you President Trump.

I agree with president trump on extraditing Assata Shakur (Joanne Chesimard) for the murder of NJ State trooper Werner Foerster. She escaped from a NJ Prison for Women in 1979. IF she weer returned to NJ to serv out her sentnece she wouldn't be executed since NJ abolished its death penalty law in 2007. Thanks to the liberal/progessives and anti detah penalty groups. If Chesimard is actually brought back to the USA and NJ she would probably continue serving her original senetnce. Her escape from the Edna Mahan Correctional,Facility (NJ Prison for Women) in 1979 was an armed situation her conspirators were armed with guns and correction officers were overpowered and held hostage and she escaped.
