VIDEO: Man Pleads Guilty to Killing Ohio Officer, Grins While Being Sentenced to Life

The man charged with killing Danville (OH) Police Officer Thomas Cottrell Jr. has changed his plea to guilty to avoid the death penalty.

Officials say Herschel Ray Jones III pleaded guilty to three of the 17 counts against him. He was sentenced to life in prison, plus 35 years. He is not eligible for parole.

Jones grinned from ear to ear as he was sentenced.

On January 17, 2016, Knox County dispatch center received a call stating that police officers in Danville were in danger. The woman told dispatchers that her ex-boyfriend, Jones, had left with weapons and was looking to kill an officer.

Shortly before midnight, deputies found the body of Officer Thomas Cottrell on the ground behind the municipal building. His gun had been taken and his cruiser was missing, WCMH TV reports.

It is a shame that the law allows this miscreant to plead guilty and escape the death penalty. Perhaps he might be killed in prison over some small insignificant difficulty. We can only hope.................

In the meantime, we pray for the soul and family of Officer Cottrell.

Sure he is smiling, he is a cop killer and going to DOC where the other miscreants will place him high on the pecking order and we will support this P.O.S. for the remainder of his miserable life. W.T.F., doesnt Ohio have a death penalty for killing cops? If they do then the prosecutors should hang their head in shame for not seeking the death sentence.

Jones walks to the beat of a different drummer. As a Loser, he will adapt well to prison life by following the prison socialization MO and ultimately die of the usual maladies: type 2 diabetes, hi blood pressure/stroke and/or cardiac insufficiency. AIDS acquired by way of anal tears/blood exchanges will be of help in his demise. His vapid grin is consistent with the dim-witted behaviors prognosticating his end.
