The family of a critically wounded Detroit police officer is asking for assistance from the public on a GoFundMe page.

Officer (no first name has been released) Johnson was shot in the head responding to a domestic violence call for help on April 30. 

During that call Johnson was shot by a man not involved in the domestic. The man was killed when Johnson and another officer returned fire.

Johnson is a married father of three and a 14-year member of the Detroit Police Department, WJBK TV reports.

Doesn't DPD take care of their own? Im sorry but if they donate, why work for them? Plus that city is so anti-cop, I wish you the best. Perhaps since the officer is Black his community will step up, if he were white there would be no way in that city., Then again the "BLM" types think any cop is Blue so they are worthless. hang in there brother officer.

Kevcopaz-In regards to your comment...DPD doesn't take care of their own in situations like this. I was told the money and donations that were given on that Gofundme were from good samaritans in the community and officers who gave their own personal money from their already low salaries. Thank God for these people! It's my understanding that Officer Johnson's family has been struggling since this incident and the city of Detroit has not reached out with anything. No city council...no one!
I work at the hospital and watch this woman and her kids come in daily tending to him and today she was asked by DPD and our supervisor to leave the room so they (the officers) can have "Private time". This isn't the first time the kids were told a couple weeks ago to leave for another person. In all my years working in a hospital setting I've never seen anything like that. I just don't understand also why Beaumont has been super unsupportive...Im embarrassed to work here. Ive witnessed our ethics department treat and say things about his family with such disdain it's reproachable.
Here this man is fighting for his life, and I overheard that his children had to rely of someone else to buy their basic necessities ...shame on you City of Detroit! It breaks my heart watching these people struggle, they're kind people...the boys come in and tend to their father, I can set my watch to the mothers visitation to sit by his bedside and the little girl is the cutest ever...someone needs to speak on his children's behalf...no other family should have to suffer.
