Detroit Officer Shot in Head Responding to Domestic, Condition Critical

A Detroit Police Officer was shot in the head and critically wounded around 10:30 p.m. Sunday while responding with a partner to a domestic violence call. Both officers returned fire and the suspect was killed.

A Detroit Police Officer was shot in the head and critically wounded around 10:30 p.m. Sunday while responding with a partner to a domestic violence call. Both officers returned fire and the suspect was killed.

The officer, who has not been identified, is a 14-year veteran of the Detroit Police Department.

According to Chief James Craig, the suspect opened fire on the officers as they responded. It appears that the suspect was not involved in the domestic violence call. Police are searching for the woman who made the original domestic violence call, WXYZ TV reports.
