Judge Blocks Trump’s Order on Sanctuary Cities

April 25, 2017  |

A federal judge has blocked a directive from President Donald Trump seeking to deny federal funding to so-called "sanctuary cities" and other localities that decline to cooperate in enforcement of federal immigration laws.

San Francisco-based U.S. District Court Judge William Orrick issued a preliminary injunction Tuesday barring federal officials nationwide from carrying out the portion of a Jan. 25 Trump executive order aimed at cutting off grants to local governments that won't provide assistance to federal authorities in locating and detaining undocumented immigrants.

Orrick cited public comments from Trump and Attorney General Jeff Sessions in concluding that the order appeared intended to sweep more broadly than allowed by federal law. The judge, an Obama appointee, called "not legally plausible" the Justice Department's arguments that Trump was simply trying to secure compliance with current law, Politico reports.

Let's see, a liberal judge from the 9th Circus, who donated over $200,000 to the DNC and Obama and HRC stayed an order from the sitting Republican US President? Nothing to see here folks, move along.

Another liberal judge appointed by Obama. He also blocked videos made of abortion providers from being released. A liberal scum bag.

How come a lone District Court Judge can issue a nation-wide order? His authority should be limited to only the Northern District of California. This includes the coastal areas from Monterey North and the Gay Bay area.

This needs to be reversed and it will when it reaches SCOTUS. This is a mere delay and will be all good in the end. President Trump needs to get off the stick and appoint the Federal judges that are open (like 500?) with conservatives who follow the law and the Constitution rather then making law from the bench. hold on my brothers and sisters help is on the way! Stay in the fight!
