Florida Sergeant Shot Serving Warrant, Suspect Killed

An Orange County (FL) Sheriff’s Office sergeant was shot by a convicted felon while serving a warrant Tuesday, deputies said.

An Orange County (FL) Sheriff’s Office sergeant was shot by a convicted felon while serving a warrant Tuesday, deputies said.

The man who opened fire, identified as Christopher Redding Jr., 20, was then shot and killed by other deputies, according to Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings.

Demings said Sgt. Richard Stelter, 45, was shot in the hand, arm and other areas, but is expected to recover. He remains in stable condition at Orlando Regional Medical Center.

Stelter is a 21-year veteran of the sheriff’s office, WFTV reports.
