NY Detective Ambushed in Vehicle, 2 Suspects at Large

Police are searching for two males after an Onondaga County (NY) sheriff's deputy radioed in to 911 that his patrol vehicle had been shot at approximately 10 times Monday evening near the Springfield Garden Apartments in DeWitt, according to a 911 dispatcher.

An officer requested an ambulance after the shooting was reported at 6:28 p.m. Monday, according to 911. A deputy was then transported to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse, 911 officials told Syracuse.com.

The detective was injured by flying glass but was not hit by the shooters, WBNG TV reports.

The suspects are described as two black males, one wearing a black shirt, according to police scanner reports. They were last seen running behind building 24 on Caton Drive.
