VIDEO: PA Officer Saves Transplant Team and Donor Organ After Crash

An East Cocalico Township, PA, police officer saved a life this past weekend helping stranded motorists in an SUV, but not in the way you might expect.

Doctor Warren Maley was in that SUV, along with a transplant team taking a liver from a donor at York Hospital to a patient already prepped for surgery at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. The liver would only be viable for transplant for a short time.

So Sergeant Darrick Keppley loaded the transplant team and the donor organ into his car and rushed 61 miles from the accident scene to the hospital.

"He went lights and sirens and that got us there probably twice as fast," Dr. Maley told WPXI TV. "That was quite a god send."
