Oklahoma Manhunt Subject Killed in Gunfight, Deputy Wounded

Michael Vance, who was the subject of a weeklong nationwide manhunt after he allegedly engaged in a shooting spree that left two dead and four wounded, has been killed in a shootout with police in western Oklahoma.

The Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office late Sunday night updated a widely publicized wanted poster of Vance to read "DECEASED" in block letters in a Facebook post.

"This evening, we were informed double homicide suspect Michale Dale Vance was killed near Leedey in Dewey County. The Dewey County Sheriff was also injured during a confrontation with the suspect. Authorities confirmed that a Dewey County sheriff’s deputy was injured in the incident on Sunday night but is expected to survive.

The shootout occurred after a car matching the description of one Vance allegedly stole was spotted near a campsite north of the town of Hammon in a rural part of western Oklahoma, authorities told ABC News.

Vance had sparked a nationwide manhunt after allegedly going on a shooting rampage that killed his aunt and uncle, wounded two police officers, and involved the shooting of a man in an attempted carjacking.
