The FBI released its annual Law Enforcement Officers Killed and Assaulted (LEOKA) report on officers killed and assaulted Tuesday. The 2015 report says 41 officers were feloniously killed in 2015, a decrease from 51 officers feloniously killed in 2015.

The FBI released its annual Law Enforcement Officers Killed and Assaulted (LEOKA) report on officers killed and assaulted Tuesday. The 2015 report says 41 officers were feloniously killed in 2015, a decrease from 51 officers feloniously killed in 2015.

FBI statistics say the highest number of feloniously killed officers in any year this decade was in 2011 with 72 and the lowest was 27 in 2013.

Officials believe the number of officers feloniously killed in 2016 will likely increase from the 2015 number because of the rise in ambush attacks against officers and the Dallas and Baton Rouge shootings.

FBI LEOKA also tracks the number of officers assaulted. In 2015, the FBI collected assault data from 11,961 agencies that reported a total of 50,212 officers assaulted. In 2014, the assault data was collected from 11,151 agencies, reporting 48,315 assaults against officers.
