Lancaster Mayor Blames CA Governor for L.A. Sheriff's Sergeant Death

The mayor of Lancaster, CA, claimed Thursday that a Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department sergeant who served his area until being shot to death on duty last week would be alive if not for Gov. Jerry Brown's "realignment" plan to reduce the state prison population. The governor's spokesman said the mayor's "wild claims" are baseless, reports the Associated Press.

Lancaster Mayor R. Rex Parris was interviewed by Los Angeles radio station KNX-AM before a memorial service for his friend, Sgt. Steven Owen, who was shot while answering a burglary call on Oct. 5. Trenton Trevon Lovell, on parole for an armed robbery conviction, has been charged with murder.

"You know, he's attending and as well he should attend, he should honor Steve Owen," Parris said. "But nobody wants to hear him speak because the truth of the matter is Steve Owen would be alive today but for the governor's involvement in getting early releases."

Too bad Brown, like so many other brain dead liberals, aren't the victims of their own stupidity rather than some cop on the beat. I applaud the mayor for having some balls and calling the Gov out on this one.

I agree thanks to the Mayor who has the guts to confront these progressive politicians who risk the public overtime that they put their own personal idiotic agenda before public safety. In the end its all about votes, criminals, illegals, BLM, ACLU any kind of vote is more important then the lives of us simple folk and especially the life of a LEO who are expendable to these progressives.

I want to commend the Family of Sgt Steve Owen (the entire FAMILY.....his personal family that he taught to Love the Lord so deeply , his brothers & sisters in Law Enforcement whom he was so respected by and led by example AND We The Community he gave his ALL to everyday that honor him as OUR HERO . I watched every minute of the service on Time Warner (who did an excellent job of coverage with minimal comment ...letting us ALL attend the actual Celebration of Life ) . God's Peace & Strength was carrying EVERYONE through so that the focus was on "honoring an incredible LIFE of giving to others " . For me Steve's youngest son summed it up "he very briefly mentioned the heinous act the took his dad and moved immediately on to acknowledging that God took a cowardly evil act and turned it for HIS PURPOSE .....to honor a man who lived his life in SERVICE " Service to His Lord , His Family , His Community . Thank you for allowing GOD to heal ALL of you and to heal ALL of OUR Community .

As long a the liberals and gangs run Los Angeles more and more officers and innocent residents will suffer. I was a cop in LA. for over 20 years. after retirement I moved to a conservative state where citizens can carry concealed to protect their families and will fight to the death at any attempt to change or weaken the second amendment. Give California back to Mexico. It is a state with no future.
