Massachusetts Woman Held Without Bail After Allegedly Biting Off Part of Salem Officer's Ear

A rookie Salem, MA, patrol officer was left with a disfiguring injury when a young Marblehead woman bit off part of the officer's ear during an arrest early Sunday, police said.

A rookie Salem, MA, patrol officer was left with a disfiguring injury when a young Marblehead woman bit off part of the officer's ear during an arrest early Sunday, police said.

The Marblehead woman is now being held without bail, and facing charges that include aggravated assault and battery, mayhem, assault and battery causing serious bodily injury and resisting arrest. She has pleaded not guilty.

Patrolwoman Jessica Rondinelli lost a large section of the outer portion of her ear when Wiley bit down on it as Rondinelli was attempting to put her in a police cruiser in downtown Salem shortly before 1 a.m. Sunday, police said. The officers were answering a call about a fight, the Salem News reports.
