Shots Fired at Off-Duty LAPD Officers

June 06, 2016  |

A gunman suspected of opening fire on two off-duty Los Angeles police officers in Norwalk, CA, was taken into custody early Sunday morning, officials said.

Two off-duty LAPD officers were making a u-turn at the intersection of Ferin Avenue and Crossdale after their shift when a man stepped out of a house and fired shots at the officers' car, according to the Los Angele County Sheriff's Department. The officers then flagged down LASD deputies around 12:30 a.m.

The officers were not struck by the gunfire and the shooter ran back inside the home.

Residents from the home were evacuated as deputies took the suspected shooter into custody, LASD told KNBC TV.

What an idiot. Not only does the guy take shots at cops, but he then retreats back into the one place easiest for responding officers to surround and cordon off and wait him out. It was like he was saying: "Please arrest me."
