Police Union Sues New York City Over Changes to Health Insurance

May 17, 2016  |

A police union is suing New York City for making changes to officers’ health insurance plans without consulting them, according to court papers.

The new PBA suit says the changes will drive copays as high as $150 for an emergency room visit when it used to be just $50, the New York Post reports.

The union accuses the city of bypassing the mandated, one-on-one collective bargaining system and making the changes through a citywide group that represents municipal unions.

The new plan for municipal workers will amount to $3.4 billion in savings for the city, the suit says.

Cops are not protected species (and I am a cop). We have to realize that all folks are getting slammed reference health care. Ask your friends and neighbors what they pay, especially self employed folks. Don't get me started on Obama-Care either, not any help for working folks (just do nothings) and only hurts health care. We need COMPETITION in health insurance, drop the state lines, let all companies sell in all states (as in ALL other instances) and see what will happen! That will lower rates for everyone.
