Texas Officer Donates Kidney to Fellow Officer

Fortunately for Turner, fellow Coppell Police Officer Peter Dirks wound up being a perfect match for organ donation and has agreed to give his kidney to his brother in blue.

For 15 years, Coppell Police Officer Jim Turner has patrolled streets, ready for unexpected criminal threats.

A year ago, however, he learned that the greatest threat to his life was medical.

Kidney failure put him on dialysis, the Dallas Morning News reports.

Fortunately for Turner, fellow Coppell Police Officer Peter Dirks wound up being a perfect match for organ donation and has agreed to give his kidney to his brother in blue.

"He’s not even my best friend, and he’s not even my family and he did this for me," Jim Turner said.
