VIDEO: Critically Wounded Texas Deputy Recovering from Ambush Attack

A Texas deputy constable who was seriously wounded in an ambush shooting last Wednesday in Houston is now making progress in recovering from his injuries.

Deputy Alden Clopton's family says his condition has been upgraded from critical to "serious" as he continues to recover from several gunshot wounds.

"He's talking now," his son and Biloxi, MS, police officer Todre Clopton shared with CW 39 TV. "He's alert. He knows what's going on."

Dep. Clopton was attacked from behind while speaking with a fellow officer. He was not taking an enforcement action at the time of the shooting.

The shooter is still at large.
