VIDEO: Virginia Trooper Suffers Life-Threatening Wounds in Bus Station Shooting, Gunman Dead

A Virginia State Police spokesperson says that the suspect is dead and a trooper has life-threatening injuries after a shooting at the Richmond Greyhound station Thursday afternoon. Some sources say the trooper has died, but State Police will not confirm.

Spokeswoman Corinne Geller says a suspect opened fire on an officer at the station around 2:45 p.m. Two nearby troopers then shot the suspect, who died after being transported to VCU Medical Center. Two other people were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, NBC 12 reports.

Geller would not comment on why State Police troopers were at the bus station. There are reports they were on premises for a training exercise and were chatting with the public after the exercise when the man pulled out a gun and opened fire, hitting the wounded officer. Two other troopers reportedly returned fire.

Why does this have to happen? Its ridiculous that some dirtbag would shoot a Trooper. I'm praying for the Trooper to survive his injury's and I'm confident that he will overcome them.

I just found out that, sadly, the State Trooper has died of his injuries. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family. Most of us can't possibly understand what they're going through right now. Its a good thing that "dirtbag" died at the scene. Most of us would regret it if he survived. Ambush style attacks on Police Officers are going up quickly. At the rate its going, by the end of the year ambush attacks will be up by 40%.
