NYPD Counterterror Units on High Alert After Brussels Attacks

March 22, 2016  |

While there is no known specific and credible threat to New York City, Mayor Bill de Blasio said emergency units have been fully deployed by the NYPD following the deadly terror attacks at an airport and subway station in Brussels.

“Every New Yorker should know you’re being protected every day by the finest police force in this country, and a police force that has really developed extraordinary ability to prevent terrorism and keep us safe,” de Blasio said.

The NYPD immediately responded to the attacks in Belgium, not only activating its Critical and Strategic response unit, but also deploying additional counterterrorism teams to major landmarks, transit hubs, as well as other high-profile locations including the Belgian Consulate.

“This is something we think about every day,” Deputy Commissioner of Intelligence and Counterterrorism John Miller told CBS News. “This was an all out effort that is part of the normal drum beat of trying to manage the threat stream in New York City.”

We really need to stop letting people in our country, that are not evaluated.I think that a full screening of these persons should be processed carefully, before letting them in our country.we should always be alert.

OK then @ 3/23/2016 7:06 AM

One would think that would be a given, but somehow protecting our country and enforcing our laws has become "unamerican" in this Monty Python-esque world we live in today.

So many of us realize the danger that obama is putting our country in. This s.o.b. does too. Yet he's continuing to bring in these middle eastern people to our great country. Anybody with a brain knows that we are gonna pay for obama's choice now and in the future, to allow them into the country. ESPECIALLY US L.E.O.'S.

Both Democratic candidates think the US is picking on the people who are coming here in masses to hurt us and favor an open arms approach to immigrations as if it was 1905 and all we are worrying about is scurvy. The NYC Mayor ABSOLUTELY HATES LAW ENFORCEMENT and has killed the morale of the NYPD starting from when he was just a candidate.

I feel bad forbthe NYPD of today .....
They' re really on their own.
