VIDEO: California Officers Fatally Shoot Man After Stolen Patrol Car Chase

A man who took off in a West Covina, CA, police car was killed in an officer-involved shooting that resulted after a police SUV crashed into the stolen vehicle in Glendale to end a high-speed pursuit, authorities said.

Authorities withheld the name of the fatally wounded man, who was in his 30s.

No officers were injured.

The man reportedly called West Covina Police to ask for an Armenian-speaking officer to be dispatched to his home. When the officer arrived, the man reportedly asked the officer to drive him to another location. A confrontation ensued, and the man somehow drove off in the officer's patrol vehicle.

Officers pursued the stolen cruiser at speeds approaching 100 miles per hour until a police SUV crashed into its driver's side door to make it stop in a Glendale parking lot.

The fatal shooting involved officers from the West Covina Police Department, Los Angeles County Sheriff's Sgt. William Cotter told Fox 11.

This was riveting television, but why did the man driving the stolen police cruiser need to be shot and killed? He was totally boxed in by the police. He didn't get out of the car to run. It looked as if he was surrounded by about 8 officers with guns drawn. Why did he have to die? Is there any more information about this?

Percy @ 3/15/2016 7:15 PM

"Why did he have to die?"

Because that's how they do things these days.

Someone will say he reached for his waistband and everybody feared for their
lives. He was probably a minority as well, and I doubt they wanted to have this story explained by anyone other than themselves. How did he somehow get into the front seat?

Boooo hoooooo. Another good AMERICAN citizen lost his life to the hands of the white devil. Who cares he fought a police officer, stole the police unit, went on a hellacious pursuit endangering countless, nay a half dozen or so citizens and had access to weapons that were inside the vehicle..... Who cares. The pursuit was amazing to watch, you just can't get Mark Whalberg to bring this type of drama to the screen, not even in Lone Survivor. But I'll tell you where I drew the line-------- <- right there. It's where we sit IDLY by allowing these unmasked marauders kill our brothers and sisters, who, if I may add, virtually did nothing wrong. So starting right now I'm taking to Facebook, IG, and Tinder and doing a gay porn strike where I refuse to watch it until something is done about this.... And that bullshit California law where porn stars have to wear condoms. I mean, what's that about..... But I digress. Gay porn strike, starts, right, NOW.

Outstanding analysis of the incident.
Are you saying shooting this person was the only way this could end?
At the time he was murdered was he an imminent threat, yes or no?
You seem to be a terribly disturbed person and should stop watching porn
altogether, or should simply stay off the internet.

Chief 800 @ 3/16/2016 6:16 AM

Percy, you are an interesting individual. You comment on every police related assault or shooting but you seem to have no comments for articles like the one two stories above this one that talks about over 50k officers assaulted every year. By your account that would have led to 50 k Officer involved shootings every year. Try to be objective for once. If the shooting wasn't justified then it will come out. There are officers that are charged with manslaughter. It is just not quite as frequently as you would like, like every single shooting. I am still trying to figure out if you are just having fun poking the bear or if you really think that thousands of men and women who do this job are corrupt murderers who haven't had their chance yet.

Sgt. Robert Messner, a 34-year veteran of the force, was sentenced on Thursday to two years of probation, a $500 fine, anger management, community service and reassignment.
Messner told the judge he has a condition that caused chewing gum to fall out of his mouth at the moment. That's BEAUTIFUL!! That sure seems like a light sentence for spitting on someone. If someone spits on a cop they are charged with aggravated assault and can face 10 years in prison, and a 25G fine. NOT probation.

A Florida cop was arrested on Thursday after being accused of serving and protecting the shit out of a 7-year-old girl.

Deputy Ryan Ferguson, 29, was arrested and charged with child abuse for putting liquid hand soap in the girl’s mouth, choking her, and then hitting her in the face.

The girl said Ferguson then pulled her off the couch and onto the floor and began hitting her on both sides of the face with an open and closed fist before choking her by the neck and striking her some more.

A doctor said the girl had bruises under her eyes, which were systematic of being choked – and also exhibited bruising on her forehead, which was consistent with being hit with a closed fist.

Ferguson claimed the child suffered the injuries to her face as a result of a shopping cart falling on her but the doctor disagreed saying they were “without a doubt from a violent and severe beating about the face as well as choking, which is exactly as the victim reported it occurred.
Nice man.

Police sergeant orders officers to beat underaged suspects, now faces 14 years in prison

Sgt. Anthony Robinson was recently found guilty of ordering other officers under his authority to assault underage suspects while they were in handcuffs. Robinson reportedly told officers Blake Norwood and Arthur Parker to beat up four different suspects, on different occasions. Three of the four suspects were reportedly minors at the time of the beatings.

One victim named Travarrius Williams told Channel 2 reporters that he was badly beaten well after his arrest while he was restrained.

They were punching, kicking, stomping. They broke my teeth on the back of the windshield, Williams said.

That's why black, young men really run from the police. We ain't running because we did something.

He won't do a day and neither will any of the others, nothing to see here.

Maybe you people should stop this campaign you have of suggesting there are 6 or 7 guys that are the only bad ones. BS!

Chief 800 @ 3/21/2016 8:41 AM

Yes all the horrible cop attacks, and misconducts. Again not a word of the ambushed officers, and officers assaulted or killed just doing their job. Never said there were no ignorant cops. I have always said it is a job performed by people not Angelic beings. I know cops as useless and ignorant as the criminals they chase around. Yes often they break the law. Many pay for it by being charged, many don't. Same as our court system. Remember a guy named OJ SImpson. I was just wondering if you could be objective about the fact that the majority of police are genuinely good people doing a job most you couldn't pay enough to do. But I can see its just the hate. I feel bad for you. You obviously have been the victim of one of these tragic events. Don't ever look into Doctor malpractice, your brain will explode with all the court cases. Point is most doctors are still good at their job. Just know that some of us have never punched anyone, are not condescending to people in need.

Sheriffs Explorer Sgt. @ 3/29/2016 9:51 PM

Percy, the cop hater, is at it again. When will he grow up? Never.
