San Francisco Police Asked to Take Pledge to Report Intolerance by Fellow Officers

February 01, 2016  |

San Francisco police officers are being asked to combat racism in the ranks and take a pledge to turn in colleagues displaying intolerant behavior, such as slurs and jokes targeting people of color, gays and women.

The pledge is part of a broader public relations campaign by the embattled police department to repair frayed relations with minority neighborhoods and community activists, CBS and Associated Press reports.

Most police officers have their partners backs, not the politicians who want to try and find fault where none is there. Cops often tell jokes to each other and make remarks about those who show poor breeding! Want to be respected by the police, then act like a reasonable person and conduct your business lawfully. When blacks yell and screem like baboobs, and gays swish their asses, then they will become the subject of ridicule. Cooperation is spelled with two "O's".

It is just getting over the top in San Francisco and once again I would say to any officer working there, if you can GET OUT and for anyone thinking of joining, think long and hard on what you are getting yourself into. For those that can not leave because of too much time invested, sucks to be you, keep a low profile, make retirement and then leave. Let the policy makers answer the calls and be a kinder, gentler police and see how that works.

In the same breath the officials call on cops to report on their fellow officers for basically frivolous violations, they indicate they care more for the life of armed street thugs than their officers. When contacting armed suspects, they expect their officers to be tolerant. If the officers get killed in the process, oh well. I bet the morale at SFPD is sky high.

Seems like they won't be happy until they turn police departments into mindless automatons that just record data.

So asking police to abide by the law is asking too much???!!!
You need to understand the real world...and the term "hostile workplace or environment"
The taxpayers of SF hire the police to do a job and expect the LEO to not tell racist or sexist jokes....that is 100% in their right to make this requirement.
If the SF LEO don't like it:
1. Quit and move to a city that allows racist and sexist jokes (that list gets smaller every day).
2. Start a movement to vote out the cities leadership in the next election.
3. Change their behavior or for 90% of the LEO...try and change the behavior of the 5-10% that are bad apples.
4. Grin and bare it...follow the rule...and complain on the police magazine board at night.

I can't believe you guys. They are asking the cops to pledge to do what they should be doing all along.

Let's see...... Pledge to perform the way you swore you would.

What a sad state of policing when you have to take these kind of steps.
