VIDEO: Off-Duty Colorado Deputy Critically Wounded in Robbery Shooting

An off-duty Jefferson County, CO, sheriff's deputy was shot several times in southeast Aurora late Tuesday night.

He was taken to the hospital in critical condition with life-threatening injuries, the Aurora Police Department told KDVR TV.

On Wednesday morning, the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said the unidentified deputy was upgraded to stable condition and that his prognosis for recovery is good.

Police called the incident an attempted robbery and said they did not think the suspects who shot the deputy knew he was a law enforcement officer.

An Aurora police spokeswoman said the deputy shot one suspect in the leg. He is a juvenile in the hospital with an injury that he was expected to recover from. He was in police custody. Police said they were looking for one other suspect.

I hope the Deputy is doing well and recovers soon. Im sure MAMA will be telling everyone her juvenile was a good child he couldn't have done this.

Yeah, he was getting ready to start college and was turning his life around.

Yes indeed, the words of bob retired leo and Mac, we have have heard all too many times before. Standard lines for the family of dirt bags. Hope and pray the Deputy makes a fast full recovery.
