VIDEO: Wisconsin Officer Killed in Collision with State Truck

A McFarland (WI) police officer was killed in a head-on crash involving a squad car and a Department of Natural Resources truck Monday afternoon, according to Dane County officials.

The officer, 33-year old Ryan Copeland, was the McFarland Police Department's first ever K-9 officer, according to WKOW TV.

The crash was reported just after noon at 132 County Road N in the town of Albion.

Officials said 25-year-old Colleen M. Sutheimer, of Fitchburg, crossed the center line and collided with the squad car. Sutheimer, a DNR employee, was driving the DNR pickup truck at the time of the crash, according to a release.

Sutheimer was taken to a Janesville hospital with minor injuries, officials told Channel 3000. There is no indication early on that the woman was on any substances or intoxicated.

Officials said Copeland was just starting his shift when the crash happened.

May your R.I.P. Officer Copeland. My prayers go out to your family, and your family in blue.
