More than $300,000 has been spent on the investigation of the shooting death of Fox Lake police lieutenant Charles Joseph Gliniewicz, which is expected to be ruled a suicide.

Almost two-thirds of that number, about $196,000, was related to overtime, according to an analysis by the Daily Herald. The review also found that departments with employees assigned to the Lake County Major Crime Task Force had some of the highest costs.

The discovery of the mortally wounded Gliniewicz on Sept. 1 after he called for backup in the pursuit of three suspects in a remote, marshy area of the village prompted a huge manhunt. Authorities later confirmed Gliniewicz had been shot twice with his own weapon.
