Baltimore Mayor Seeks to Make Interim Chief Permanent

September 14, 2015  |

Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake will look to make acting police commissioner Kevin Davis the permanent head of the city police department, her spokesman said Monday.

Rawlings-Blake reached out to City Council President Bernard C. "Jack" Young today to seek council approval for the decision, said Kevin Harris, the mayor's spokesman. Harris did not reveal the details of the contract, including its length, saying that the terms were still being finalized.

"The mayor has been pleased with energy that the interim commission has brought to the job," Harris told the Baltimore Sun. "He's been able to gain the trust of the rank-and-file police officers. We're seeing that through the increased activity. We're seeing more arrests, more guns off the street, and we're seeing him being able to work seamlessly through the crime fight."

Wow, sure hope Davis gets a "no cut" or "pay me off if cut" 5 yr contract or I would tell them to take a hike. He will be the next scape goat for the Diva Mayor once the verdict(s) come out (either way they will riot) and the city goes up in flames once again. I hope Davis is already retired from another agency or has a pension on line or he will regret taking that job for sure.
