Law Enforcement Officers More Wary After Texas Deputy's Ambush

August 31, 2015  |

During his 21 years in law enforcement, Cpl. Wayne Curry hasn't worried much about the approach of strangers.

The Texas officer, like anyone who wears a badge, said he has had his share of run-ins with those who harbor a dislike of the police. But when people have stepped up to him, he said, it is "more likely they want to buy me dinner."

Curry is now thinking twice. He spoke as he watched over a crowd of about 1,500 people gathered at an impromptu memorial at a gas station in a Houston suburb, where an on-duty officer from a neighboring department in Harris County near Houston was gunned down Friday in an apparently unprovoked attack while fueling his car.

"This was an ambush, a coward that took advantage," Curry told the Los Angeles Times.

The GOP has always hated the Police. I have no idea why the GOP gets so much support from Law Enforcement because every time they elect one we lose healthcare and pension benefits. And in many of the southern red states the Police & Corrections have not had raises in ten years. But it's the LEO's own fault for supporting the people that constantly screw them.

I'd rather support the GOP than the Demorats. I realize they are all corrupt, however, the GOP is the lesser of the two evils. I am very impressed by the current GOP presidential candidates,...however, the Demorat candidates and the current regime are quite another story.

One thing about it, all the Police Recruits now will have watch your backs drilled into them at the academy or during field training. If they don't there had better be some new training officers appointed.
