VIDEO: Colorado Police Chief Delivers Daughter on Side of Road

Chief Joey Staufer of the Eagle (Colo.) Police Department called 911 just after 2 a.m. after his wife went into labor near the Gypsum exit on Interstate 70. The dispatcher, Kelly Klein, helped Staufer through the delivery, the Vail Public Safety Communications Center said in a news release.

Once paramedics arrived, the mother and baby girl were taken to a hospital and both are reported to be doing well.

Klein will receive a pink "stork" pin and have his name inscribed on a plaque in the communications center.

Very cool that everything turned out ok. My youngest son who is 46 now gave us almost the same scare in 1969. We lived18 miles from the hospital and ended up having a police escort for the last 5 miles in. Sometimes mother nature gives us a surprise no matter what the doctor says.
