Two officers were shot in Troy, N.Y., by a would-be carjacker in the area of 112th St. and 5th Ave. Saturday night around 10:30.

The first officer closest to the scene was Officer Joshua Comitale. He encountered the suspect in the area and called out that he had a person fitting the description. According to police, Comitale waited for back up to get closer before attempting to stop the him.

Police said Comitale continued to follow the suspect in his patrol car.

As the backup officer, Officer Chad Klein, came into the area, the suspect began to flee, according to police. Comitale gave chase then the suspect and the officers exchanged gunfire.

Comitale sustained gunshot wounds to both of his lower legs, and Klein sustained a gunshot wound to the shoulder, WIVB TV reports.

A Troy Police Department spokesman told CBS6, police received a call for an attempted carjacking with a description of the would-be carjacker. An officer who was in the area went to that intersection and saw a person who fit the description and followed him while he waited for backup. When another officer joined him, they approached the man and he fired on them with a handgun. The officers fired back, hitting the man. One officer was shot in the leg, the other in the upper torso. The officers were taken to Albany Medical Center.

"But he was just starting to get his life together. He went to church, went back to school, was going to start child support to his 15 baby-mommas for his 25 kids. And he was just trying to give his gun to the officers. Why did the poo-leese have to murder him?"

RS @ 8/24/2015 10:49 AM

Such a perfect response Fed Cop and so true. The topic should read Black Carjacking Suspect Shoots At White Police Officers!

Slammer @ 8/24/2015 11:05 AM

I'm surprised he hit anyone with eyes like that!

Yeah where are the protests now? sharpton and jackson are crawled up in their holes. As most of O.I.S. they are justified as is this one just by reading it. This guy was just another p.o.s. lowlife. I just don't understand how these family members can't understand that or don't want too. Could it be the money from lawsuits? Who knows. However, money is the root of all evil.

Leonard Mather @ 8/24/2015 1:25 PM

Fed Cop's rhetorical question is best explained by the contents prefacing the question, such as: "starting" to get his life together, "going to church," "going back to school," and MOST impressive that he was "going to start" child support to 15 baby mommas for his 25 kids. That did not leave him sufficient time to improve his shooting accuracy, hence he us up for the DARWIN AWARD given to those that remove themselves from being able to reproduce another loser like him. It looks like Fed Cop has not figured out that firing at LEOS will result in their returning fire. (Background music for Dragnet: "Dumb da Dumb Dumb!

Just give the Sharpton crowd time and they will come slithering out of their holes like a giant Boa Constrictor. Another piece of garbage off the streets. Speedy recovery to both officers.

Morning Eagle @ 8/25/2015 2:31 AM

Fed Cop definitely has it figured out. His comment was tongue-in-cheek regarding how these POS criminals are portrayed after they get themselves killed. Good job by the responding officers.

Ima Leprechaun @ 8/28/2015 8:29 PM

Suspect was black so he is automatically innocent. they should have let him go, black people have never in the history of the USA committed one crime so he was obviously innocent. Even while shooting at the Police he was completely innocent just trying to protect himself. This will be how the media will present this anyway.

Bob peterson @ 9/11/2015 5:53 PM

good job officers. Hope you recover soon. It is so ridiculous that thugs are allowed to shoot at police and people support them. Anyone who supports a thug is helping this world go down the tubes. There are more blacks for police than against. As soon as these thugs are eliminated, our world will heal itself. Shoot straight and don't hesitate.
