A Tazewell County, Ill., deputy was killed in a single-vehicle crash while responding to a domestic violence disturbance in Armington Monday night, reports the Pantagraph.

Tazewell County Sheriff Robert Huston said Dep. Craig S. Whisenand, 44, was responding to the call at about 10:30 p.m. when he lost communication with dispatchers. At approximately 11:58 p.m., another Tazewell County deputy discovered a single-vehicle accident crash at the intersection of Springfield Road and Tomm Road, just north of Delavan.

The deputy was pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident is being investigated by Illinois State Police and the Tazewell County Coroner's Office.
