Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake said Wednesday that she has replaced Police Commissioner Anthony W. Batts, reports the Baltimore Sun.
Rawlings-Blake "has decided to replace Anthony W. Batts as the Baltimore Police Commissioner," her office said in a short statement sent to The Baltimore Sun. "Effective immediately, Deputy Police Commissioner Kevin Davis will become Interim Commissioner of the Baltimore Police Department."
Rawlings-Blake and Davis have scheduled a news conference for 4:15 p.m.
Davis, who has most recently served as deputy commissioner, has a long history in law enforcement. He previously served as police chief in Anne Arundel County and assistant police chief in Prince George's County.
