Video: Footage of North Carolina Officer Dancing Goes Viral

VIDEO: Former Shelter Dog Joins Va. Police K-9 Unit

A video of a police officer in Hickory, N.C., doing a dance called the wobble at a block party has gone viral.

Officer David Lee has been on the job for three years as a patrol officer for Hickory Police.

The internet calls Lee "the dancing cop." Someone posted a video to Facebook showing him dancing with strangers during an event. Hickory Police and members of the Kappa League of Hickory hosted a community block party last Thursday in the Ridgeview Community--an event that more than 200 residents attended.

"We are trying to get out and show we can have a relationship, gain trust," Lee told WCNC TV.

Hat's off to this officer who took just a little time from his busy schedule to connect with the community. Now if more interactions happened on this scale policing would potentially be different. Not saying everyone in LE should dance at a cook out, but the care demonstrated here baffles the mind of those who think different. Kudos to Officer David Lee for crossing that boundary and showing the world that police officers do have a heart and sense of humor. And that everything isn't about choke holds, bullets and stereotypes..!

The great thing about this picture showing fun being had by all is that he is still using weapon retention with his right arm in a way that it does't attract a lot of attention. Good job Officer Lee!
