May 19, 2015  |

President Obama’s Task Force on 21st Century Policing released its final, 116-page report on Monday after six months of work.

On December 18, 2014, President Barack Obama signed an Executive Order establishing the President's Task Force on 21st Century Policing. The Task Force Members sought expertise from stakeholders and input from the public as they worked to identify best practices and make recommendations to the President. The Task Force submitted an initial report to the President on March 2, 2015 and released the final report on May 18, 2015.

You can read the entire final report here.

This report was very thorough and professionally put together. I personally thought the collaborative expertise placed inside this final report was well thought out and collectively considered both sides of the isle. Hat's off to the President and his team of leaders who thought enough to implement this 21st Century example of National cause and effect and resolution.

Wow. You all need to take a few minutes and read this report. Not surprising that all is blamed on the Police. They want to control everything from language used by police during contacts to respect citizens (not ever using commands that direct a criminal to obey and submit avoiding use of force), to giving out our card at each and every contact & getting written consent to search! All OIS/use of force reviewed "independent Prosecutors" (read DOJ). In the end, just a long winded "community organizer" (read Obama) type report with all blame put on LEOs and zero responsibility on the public. They do push training (mostly diversity etc) and having an updated radio system but thats all that helps LEOs. Take a moment to read how "reflecting the community" is so very important(agreed it really is) yet the make up of this commission is way disproportionately made up of "persons of color". Only 2 W/M on the main board. Gee what a surprise, another waste of public time & money and is useless.

We shouldn't even begin to discuss the ratio of white vs black in any professional spectrum. The way its been forever is that whites have dominated in every aspect of LE, Courtrooms, jury duty, Wall Street, etc. So they appointed as you put it "persons of color". Howabout something rather than nothing is being done to attempt solve and calm the stereotypical perspective of brutality seen over the years. The community has to also play its part, but as professionals we have part to share in this effort as well. Everybody is not against LE. In fact the DOJ, the President, etc are for good policing. Why should anyone side with injustice? If we're ever gonna make integrated progress in this start with us being honest about US! Perhaps if we continue to sit back and allow "some" LE to continue on its course of hurting others just because "We Can" then its no wonder policies such as this 21st Century report are put in place. Tell me a better solution ...I'm LE, I need to know.....
