Killings of Law Enforcement Officers Spiked 89% in 2014

May 12, 2015  |

The number of law enforcement officers who have been killed in the line of duty over the past year has nearly doubled – with most of them dying after they were shot by gun-carrying criminals, according to the FBI.

Fifty-one officers were “feloniously” killed in 2014, as compared to 27 the year prior, the FBI said Monday in its 2014 Preliminary statistics for law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty. Criminal offenders used firearms in 46 of the 51 deaths, the report showed.

The majority of the time, criminals used handguns to shoot the officers, killing 32 officers, of the remaining deadly incidents 11 officers were killed with rifles, three with shotguns, four were struck by vehicles and one was killed by a criminal who used his body as a weapon, the statement shows.

“Thirty-five of the slain officers were confirmed to be wearing body armor at the times of the incidents,” the statement reads. “Five of the 51 officers killed fired their own weapons, and six officers attempted to fire their service weapons. Seven victim officers had their weapons stolen; one officer was killed with his own weapon,” the Washington Times reports.

Does anyone have any doubts that this spike is somewhat related to the anti=-police B.S. we hear, the anti police news Media, the Al Sharptons etc etc. People need to understand WORDS MATTER, WHATS IS SAID MATTERS! If someone yelled fire in a crowded theater they would be charged, why don't we charge folks like Sharpton who inflame people with the same sort of dangerous words

Yes, the killings of LEOS have spiked and I am afraid that the numbers could reach 100% in 2015. We here in north Idaho just lost an officer last week to a perp who was afraid that the officer was going to find the gun that he was illegaliy carrying because he was a felon. STUPID! He maybe faced a small amount of jail time. Instead he chose to kill the officer in cold blood! The criminal element will stop at nothing!

This near doubling of officers killed by scum criminals is unacceptable. My question is: Could at least some of these killings, not the ambush types, be attributed to an extra moment of hesitation on the part of the officer due to all the negative BS, too often flat out lying, media coverage and subsequent rioting following officer involved shootings?

We would appreciate our men and women in law enforcement. When we are being violated by a criminal we certainly cannot call the ganster with a gun to help us out.
