Gunshots were fired at two Tucson police officers conducting traffic enforcement Sunday morning near downtown, police say.

Neither officer was struck and two men have been arrested in connection with the case, Tucson police said in a news release Monday.

The officers were in a marked vehicle in the area of East Broadway and North Park Avenue when shots were fired from a passing car, the release said.

The officers tried to stop the vehicle, which fled into the downtown area. Two men, Fabian Nunley, 23, and Earl Young Jr., 33, were taken into custody without further incident, according to police.

Nunley is facing two counts of aggravated assault on a peace officer with a deadly weapon, drive-by shooting and unlawful flight from pursuing law enforcement vehicle. Young faces two counts of aggravated assault on a peace officer with a deadly weapon and drive-by shooting, the Arizona Daily Star reports.
