My condolences to Officer Thompson's family and department.

I have now read recent 4 posts about officers and firefighters who die while exerting themselves...on and off the job. In such a high stress job, for these men and women we depend on for our protection, shouldn't regular checkups be required...and provided? Hypertension is undiagnosed in 30% of people with that disorder.

Lets not have Officer Thompson's death be in vain....more support is needed in the area of health for our heroes.

I echo the first post about Hypertension. Mine was found in 1970 during a physical examination. My pressure had been high before that but it was in the early 1960s and there was no medication for Blood Pressure at that time. Almost a year ago I had a heart block which is the heart's own pacemaker quiting. I now have a battery powered one in my chest. Keep an eye on your vitals Men and Ladies!
