Albuquerque Officer Dies of "Medical Event" in Training

March 26, 2015  |

The Albuquerque Police Department has confirmed that one of their officers had a medical episode and died during a training event near University and Indian School on Thursday.

Police officials told KRQE TV officers were gathered for a role-play training when one of them suffered a catastrophic medical event. Officers began performing CPR, police say, and a medical director from the Albuquerque Fire Department also guided additional emergency procedures. The officer was transported to UNMH and police say he succumbed to the medical episode.

The name of the officer was not released at press time.

My Condolences to the Albuquerque Police Dept. and the Officer's Family. Seriously gentlemen keep an eye on the blood pressure and blood sugar. Also this may have no bearing on the tragic event. Another good man gone.

This is the second time in a year that someone died from a
'medical event on duty but nobody in either incident has yet to describe what kind of a medical event. According to the link it was not a heart attack. Treatment for a heart attack when the person does not have a heart attack can cause the death of the victim. My condolences to the Officer's family and agency.
