Police Deny Excessive Force Claim by Ferguson Shooting Suspect's Lawyer

The lawyer for Jeffrey Williams, who is accused of wounding two police officers at a protest in Ferguson, Mo., last week, insisted Tuesday that his client did not shoot them — even though the prosecutor and a minister have said Williams admitted it.

The lawyer, Jerryl Christmas, also claimed that Williams was beaten during the arrest, a claim that police deny.

In addition, Christmas said the officers hit by gunfire were shot by accident, but would not say how he knows that if Williams was not the shooter. He said Williams did not fire a gun that night.

Christmas told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch Williams had bruises on his back, neck and face as well as a knot on the back of his head, allegedly from the butt of an officer's gun.

St. Louis County police called allegations of excessive force, "completely false." A department statement said Williams was examined by a nurse at the Justice Center, who found him "fit for confinement."

County police Sgt. Brian Schellman said Williams' arrest was not videotaped, but that his statement to police — admitting he fired the shots— was. Officer Shawn McGuire said he was unsure whether Williams resisted arrest.

Obviously "Christmas is doing the usual legal B.S and making stuff up, just shifting blame to the racist cops to smoke screen his POS client who committed the real crime, this thug shot two cops. Thinking folks ignore race hating claims like these from Lawyer whores anyway. This is what will happen in EVERY SINGLE arrest that is not video taped under this new camera wearing by officers BS. Then even if all arrests are filmed the whore attorneys will just say that the subject was beaten and civil rights violated when he was out of camera site. Only way to avoid this is to have 24 footage of each and every arrest thru them being convicted in court, ridicules but it will happen some day. How about these whore defense atty.'s wearing cameras all day to see how they falsify documents, tell defendants what to testify to (against the law) Im sure that they would go for that! Makes me want to puke!

Another example of why police officers are "sworn in" to their occupation, and lawyers are not.

Here we go, maybe CNN will tell us a story like on the Brown ordeal on how the Officers really are to blame and are trying to frame this guy,so they have something to over dramatize for the next 6 months, I'm sure this guy is a model citizen that helps shut inns at his church.

It appears maybe lawyer Christmas got hit in the head since his statement about the officers being shot by accident just incriminated his client. Remind me not to hire lawyer Christmas.

When will we as Americans stop this madness and take care of the problem. This man shot two police officers shooting at someone else in a crowd. I hope no one believes this story. Our government officials have become racist and anti police. It's time to replace our government. Trust me, you don't want the police to stop doing their job. Believe your police and protect your police.

There is NO WAY these officer's were shot by accident. That is just a ploy to try and get a lesser charge if he is found guilty. Really.... anyone with a brain knows the likely hood of "2 OFFICERS" being shot by accident is just a load of crap. I know there are good cops and bad cops. It is that way everywhere. It is time to do some major cleaning house so we can all feel safe again no matter what our skin color is!!!! I am caucasian and born and raised in the same town if anyone was wondering. But also on the other hand. People need to realize if they have a weapon, and come face to face with a officer. They are going to be shot!!!! If someone came in my home with any sort of a weapon, they are going to be shot!!! Most officer's are out there to protect the innocent. And they put their lives on the line for us every day just like our military does. So, that 90% our good, hard working officer's need and deserve our respect. They deserve our protection too. Thanks all.

Now I am expecting POTUS and Holder to come out in support of Christmas' lies and make more statements about everything being the fault of police. Thanks again for your support of those that serve their communities with pride and professionalism. (sarcasm). POTUS squandered an epic opportunity to unify this nation and instead chose to fracture it further in an effort to divide and conquer.

Why I might not agree or disagree with all comments I do think that in this day and age when I hear that a "confession" was not on both audio and video tape for everyone to see, cut and dry, I frankly, do not believe that there was a confession. Sorry, but that is bad police work. I once was a juror on a case where LEO interrogated a Korean woman who barely spoke english. Officers took 23 pages of notes, and we got to watch the video. But guess what THERE WAS NO AUDIO! Coincidence? I think not. Sorry folks, but that is not a confession and that was over 20 years ago. The technology is available - use it - and let the "real" truth set you free.

kevCopAz @ 3/19/2015 4:22 PM

Mike, I agree to some extent, but even with audio and video you know there are people who will claim that the poor defendant was intimidated before the tape recording/video recording and threatened that if he didn't confess harm would come to him. Even worse some jurors would believes that! Look at the joke of a juror (1 stinking idiot) here in Az that didn't give Jody Arias the death penalty. Yes after 2 different juries one stupid person stops that criminal from getting her due. Oh and that same juror "didn't remember" that the prosecutor was the same one who prosecuted her brother in a criminal case years before….OMG she certainly didn't lie about that did she? Thats when the STATE should get a re-trial on juror misconduct, sure would if it was the other way around. So really Mike, there will always be those that don't believe the police. thats why we have trials and testimony. System not perfect, but best there is on earth so far.
