Homeland Security Funding Approved by House

March 03, 2015  |

Congress ended the crisis over funding for the Department of Homeland Security after Speaker John A. Boehner abandoned the GOP’s strategy of trying to tack on restrictions to President Obama’s immigration plan.

Conservatives were outraged that the embattled speaker declined to continue their fight against the president's actions on immigration that many Republicans view as an overreach of executive authority. They staged a series of procedural votes to prevent final approval. But the bill’s final passage allows GOP leadership to move away from a prolonged standoff that threatened the party’s image as Homeland Security funds were set to expire at the end of the week.

The vote was 257-167 after Boehner was forced to leave his conservative flank behind and reach across the aisle for support from Democrats led by Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi – something Boehner has been reluctant but repeatedly forced to do on major legislation, the Los Angeles Times reports.

Once again the Rep back down, Boehner needs to be replaced. The idea of "reaching across the isle" is to meet in the middle not run over to the other side and kiss their behinds! When will the Rep learn? The Dems don't like the rules they change them when in power, perhaps Rep should take a page of that play book and suspend filibusters and other games now that they have the gavel. Face to, Dems are ruthless idea logs who do everything and anything, moral or not, to win and Rep are still playing by the rules. Stupid, stupid and stupid. You have control, use it or you will lose it (again)!

The DHS is strictly a political appointee jobs program. The FBI did this job before the invention of the DHS. The FBI did a great job and they more readily passed along valuable information to Federal and local agencies. The FBI knew 6 months prior to 911 what was about to happen but the Bush administration refused to listen to factual information. George W Bush also has close ties to the Bin Laden Family since they are in the oil business together. Only one jet plane was allowed to fly after 911 grounded every other aircraft in the USA and it was the jet carrying the entire Bin Laden Family to Saudi Arabia. There was no way President Bush could be expected to find his best friend's son and punish him after he gave them a free ride out of town. We don't need DHS, it's a waste of time and money and it guards information for politicians.
