DOJ: No Federal Charges for Zimmerman in Martin Shooting

February 24, 2015  |

The Justice Department announced Tuesday it will not file federal civil rights charges against George Zimmerman, the Florida man who was acquitted last year of second-degree murder for shooting Trayvon Martin, an unarmed black teenager.

“Though a comprehensive investigation found that the high standard for a federal hate crime prosecution cannot be met under the circumstances here, this young man’s premature death necessitates that we continue the dialogue and be unafraid of confronting the issues and tensions his passing brought to the surface,” Attorney General Eric Holder said in written statement. “We, as a nation, must take concrete steps to ensure that such incidents do not occur in the future.”

Thursday marks the third anniversary of Martin’s death.

“Although we are disappointed in these findings, it has steeled our resolve to continue traveling the country with the message of the Trayvon Martin Foundation which is dedicated to protecting our youth and empowering those who demand justice and peace,” Martin’s family said in a statement following the DOJ announcement.

Once Zimmerman was acquitted of second-degree murder by a state jury in July 2013, Martin's family turned to the federal investigation in hopes that he would be held accountable for the shooting, Fox News reports.

Anyone with any sense, lawyers and non lawyers, cops judges and everyone but the race fools knew there would never be a Federal civil rights prosecution because it was obvious that there was never a violation of the Federal statutes covering civil rights. The Obama /Holder Justice Department just was playing the crowd as they always have faking concern and "possible" prosecution. Ferguson, another example. Every time a person "of color" (they ignore minority on white crimes) gets shot Obama/Holder will play this bait and switch game. They talk tough knowing they have zero likely hood of ever prosecution yet the race baiter folks suck it up and after a few months the pressure goes away and they make the announcement. Grow up folks, its all smoke and mirrors and politics from this Justice department.

The Police Chief in Sanford eliminated or severely tainted all the evidence in this case which made any reasonable prosecution impossible. The on-scene detective was ordered not to collect evidence or make an arrest via phone with the Chief of Police at the time of the incident. It is very difficult as Kevcop asserts that Martin's case was not properly prosecuted due to his race since Zimmerman is also a minority.

Well since we are going to play the conspiracy theory game. What possible motive would the police chief have to "taint" the evidence? Just curious..........

I myself have seen innocent person(s) falsely accused in court. Anyone who rushed to judgement on the Zimmerman Lynchmob would have second thoughts if they were falsely accused! The story isn't about Zimmerman, or Officer Wilson. If there is ONE person on Police Mag who would love to Lynched for something they didn't do please COME FORWARD! Race baiters are money driven, but if their heads were on the chopping block like the French Revolution, they would have kept their mouths shut! The Goal from the DOJ is to create riots and usher in Marshal Law. It's not about Justice. The Gov. isn't protecting anyone. Because the Ruling Class has a Bullseye on everyone. Because they follow the belief of the Georgia Guidestones. In the end everyone will be a SLAVE regardless of color. It's the Ruling Elite vs. Everyone else. Too bad some minorities haven't figured it out yet...
