Feds Expected to Sue Ferguson Police Department for Racial Discrimination

February 19, 2015  |

The Justice Department is preparing to bring a lawsuit against the Ferguson (Mo.) Police Department over what it believes to be a pattern of racially discriminatory tactics used by officers, if the police department does not agree to make changes on its own.

Attorney General Eric Holder said this week he expects to announce the results of the department's investigation of the shooting death of Michael Brown and a broader probe of the Ferguson Police Department before he leaves office in the coming weeks.

If the Ferguson PD doesn't agree to review and revise its tactics, sources tell CNN, the Justice Department would sue to force changes in the department.

Among the issues expected to be part of the Justice Department's lawsuit are allegations made in a recent lawsuit filed by a group of low-income people who claimed officers in Ferguson and nearby Jennings targeted minorities with minor traffic infractions and then jailed them when they couldn't pay fines.

The Justice Department action would ask for court supervision of changes at the Ferguson Police Department to improve how police deal with the minority communities they are supposed to protect.

Need to start by arresting Eric Holder. The officers should have made lots of arrests at the riot of all the criminals out there destroying property and shooting at police, all for a lawful shooting. The evidence means nothing to these criminals and nothing to Eric Holder. Only opinion counts for Eric Holder and what his daddy Obama tells him to do. Abide by the law or suffer the results. Even a 2 year old can grasp that. Are there bad bet, but they are few and far between and I want them gone more that you do.

Misleading headlines. They forgot the "If FPD...."
Another point. I remember reading some months ago the complaint that Ferguson had 86% black population, yet only a few officers on the police force were black. Hoe can 86% of a population be considered a minority? Or is this your AG playing the race card again?

Let them sue, do not give in. Continue it as many times as it takes till 2016 and the new administration ail drop it anyway and if we are all lucky investigate and indict Holder and all the IRS criminals. Then Obama can't pardon them.

Look at what the *Hug a Thug* approach has accomplished. BM, road rage, watch what he does to a WF mom with her little girl n her car. She got it on video. She called 911 when he kept following her. She waited 2hrs for PD.

See his face. Where is the outrage?

Racial issues in Ferguson, probably. Why should Ferguson be any different than the rest of the USA. To some degree, if you look close enough, you can find racial issues almost anywhere in the USA. Now having said that, does the
Ferguson P.D. have that big of an issue ? I don't know much about the department's past practices, so I can not make an informed comment on this issue. I can, however, comment on the fact that the shooting of Michael Brown was found to to justified, but long before that our politically motivated Attorney General, was already on a mission to blast the department for discrimination. Even though the facts now say otherwise, our federal government has decided to continue on this witch hunt. Then again, this is what we have come to expect from our present Justice Department. This is why main stream America takes so many of these opinions with a grain of salt.
