VIDEO: Man Who Leads LAPD Officers on Chase, Carjacks Woman Shot

A gunman driving a suspected stolen car was shot multiple times by "more than one officer" after trying to flee on foot and carjack at least two motorists on the 60 Freeway in the Southern California city of Montebello Monday, reports KABC.

The suspect, described as a male Hispanic between 30 and 35 years old, was taken to a local hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.

The pursuit began around 5:40 p.m. after officers ran the suspect's license plate and concluded the gray Toyota Camry had been reported stolen.

The suspect led LAPD officers on a chase through downtown Los Angeles and further east, hitting at least four vehicles before crashing his vehicle and carjacking a woman at gunpoint near Imperial Highway in South Gate.

Officers followed the suspect, who drove on the wrong side of the road several times, on the 710 and 60 freeways while helicopters followed him overhead.

The pursuit ended after the suspect became wedged in traffic. He then tried to flee on foot and carjack another motorist before officers opened fire at about 6 p.m. The suspect was quickly surrounded by officers. A firearm was recovered at the scene.

It's too bad that CA doesn't have CCW laws like FL, TX and VA that allows citizens to defend themselves. If it did, the headline would have been "Citizens fights back from carjacker; carjacker dies".

Just a typical day in L.A.. I can make an educated guess, having served 31 years in Southern California. My guess is that this suspect has a lengthy criminal record (rap sheet), and is on parole or probation. I also will bet the suspect is a gang member.
Our Judicial system has turn into a catch and release system. These felons needs to be accountable for their crimes.

Living in Spain after spending years in Los Angeles. Here since July 2015, have not heard of one police shooting, a couple of murders and interestingly they were Brits. A pleasant place with pleasant people, not angry people ready to shoot you if you do not move the millisecond the light changes. It always boggles my mind why Americans are so angry. On a rare occasion I had to take the bus as my car was in the shop, The bus bounced into hole causing a woman to bounce against me and I bounced against this ghetto-looking man. He became so ignorant that the bus driver pulled over and walked back to me. I got off as I was two streets away from where I lived. Same thing happened here in Costa del Sol a few weeks ago. I bounced against a guy when the bus jerked and he smiled and said something very flattering in Spanish. The people are not angry and ready to kill or cop and attitude if you are not a bleached blonde like Americans do.
