Mississippi Fugitive Arrested In Utah After 34 Years

January 26, 2015  |

Police in Utah say they've arrested a man who escaped from a Mississippi jail 34 years ago, reports the Associated Press.

Authorities said Friday that 61-year-old Sam Gene Harris also escaped from jails in Oregon before landing in the small central Utah town of Wellington several years ago. An FBI bulletin tipped off Utah police to his identity

Authorities say Harris was serving a four-year sentence for shoplifting and possession of burglary tools when he escaped in 1980. He will be extradited to Mississippi.

It may take some time but the long arm of the law will get you.

Really? wow, Im sure if he has been "law abiding" during that period and his age as well as the low level beef of a shop lifting, he wont get any time. Probably time served and released. That may be the best result, why waste $ on him now, he is more than likely past being a repeat offender.
