Ohio Man Who Attempts to Stab Officers at Airport Shot and Killed

January 09, 2015  |

A 41-year-old Columbus-area man was armed with several knives when he used a woman's ID to try to buy a plane ticket Wednesday afternoon at Port Columbus Airport, police said. When he returned to his illegally parked car, Abdul-Rasheed lunged at officers multiple times with a knife before being shot and killed, reports the New York Daily News.

When officers searched Abdul-Rasheed's body, they discovered "additional knives." Police called in a bomb squad to investigate the car and a search turned up "suspicious items," officials said.

The suspect's motives are unclear.

While the suspect was in the airport trying to buy the ticket the Officer in the parking garage was already hooking his car up to a tow truck for illegal parking. When Mr Rrasheed saw his car hooked to the tow truck he went crazy and charged at the Officer knife in hand. The Officer backed away and drew on the suspect ordering him to put the knife down and then fired several shots striking the suspect and knocking him down momentarily. The suspect got back up and with knife in hand charged the back-up officer that had just arrived on the scene. Another responding officer shot the suspect this time and he did not get back up. Excellent. One DOA perp and two uninjured officers.
