Nordstrom's Fires Employee Over Kill the Police Facebook Posts

December 16, 2014  |

Nordstrom has fired a Portland, Ore., employee after the sales associate apparently posted a controversial statement using his personal Facebook page advocating the killing of police officers.

"What our former employee chose to post from his personal account does not in any way reflect our views as a company," said Tara Darrow, a Nordstrom corporate affairs spokeswoman. "We do not tolerate violence, violent conversation or threats of any kind."

Nordstrom sales associate Aaron Hodges has since taken down his Facebook and Twitter accounts, but a screen shot of his alleged comments has been circulating online. In response to recent police shootings, Hodges, who is black, suggested on Facebook:

"Instead of slamming the police, I prefer a Kenny Fort approach. Every time an unarmed black man is killed, you kill a decorated white officer, on his door step in front of his family," Hodges reportedly wrote.

Nordstrom used social media to respond to dozens of angry tweets and online posts about the controversy after The Blaze commentator John Cardillo, a former NYPD cop, tweeted an apparent picture of Hodges' Facebook page to Nordstrom's Twitter handle, WUSA 9 reports.

Nordstroms you have just earned over 50 life time customers when you count all of my long line of Cop families. Thank you for stepping up on the right side. !!! We have been occasional shoppers at your Az stores, from now on if we need it, you sell it, we in my extended family will buy it at your store. Perhaps there should be a nationwide push by all Police Unions to promote Nordstroms and other stores that support US for a change. Thank you.

Trigger @ 12/16/2014 4:43 PM

Hoorah for Nordstroms! Thank you for taking a stand against this type of behavior.

ChuckW @ 12/16/2014 4:59 PM

I like the whole "unarmed doesn't mean not lethal" comment, funny how it is okay for this guy to state that but when it is turned around, they argue just to opposite. Isn't that the argument everyone keeps throwing around with Ferguson? Keep your head on a swivel blues, looks like some of these folks out there want to come to our homes and kill us in front of our families.

ChuckW @ 12/16/2014 5:23 PM

Guess I should read a little better next time, I actually think Fred Dale might be on our side. still, keep watch and keep aware.

GI Joe @ 12/16/2014 6:25 PM

These are the typical ghetto thugs who are more racist or equally racist as the klan. Good points to Nordstrom for acting fair, immediately and stating your store business does not condone this type of behavior. I'm sure he hates the police because he's either committed crimes or is a criminal himself. Wouldn't doubt he's stolen from Nordstrom while he worked there. I bet this idiot is blaming the police, the Whiteman, the Gov. #or being fired. Look in the mirror ghetto clown

Let this scab get a new job with Samuel L. Jackson singing his new anti-cop hate song. I'll shop at Nordstrom's, but will never watch another Samuel L. Jackson movie.
Same ol, same ol. Most of these protesting hacks can't take accountability or blame for their own stupid mistakes in life. Sad, little, small minded people are a drain on all of society.

Paul Gullo @ 12/16/2014 7:43 PM

There is no place in society for people like this. I can't believe someone would ever write something so disgusting. These "decorated" officers are the reason many of us are alive today and they keep our families safe at night while we sleep... Thank God for the brave men and women of Law Enforcement !!

Aaron Hodges matter should be further followed up so that Facebook shuts him down. Nordstrom did exactly the right thing to use their power to enforce sensible, logical behavior expectations. If they did not, they would be rewarding obstreperous behavior by being passive and not proactive.

Deadman @ 12/16/2014 11:27 PM

I applaud Nordstrom for their stepping forward and standing against this kind of behavior, that being said,i think they should watch out for their former employee ,he might be capable of retaliation.Sorry world we live in.

TC @ 12/17/2014 1:05 PM

Losing your job is not punishment enough. The empolyer may have fired this employee becase if they didn't, they might somehow be liable for his actions should something happen in the future. Not to fire him would be to endorse his position. Even so, I'm glad he had to pay something for his actions.

krisnlc @ 12/23/2014 1:15 PM

Good for Nordstroms. That employee was an idiot anyway.

Carlos @ 12/30/2014 6:04 PM

Muchos Kudos to Nordtstrom's for taking action against such hate.

I hope this follows the POS for the rest of his life and he live in miserable, unemployed poverty until the day he dies.
